Additional charging is compulsory treatment in traction exploitation program. This is applied in following examples:
- if the battery is left for some time and as a result of that discharged
- if the battery is not exploited
- if the battery is improperly used and deeply discharged
Frequency of the added charging:
- follow out added charging immediately if the battery is discharged below the tolerant voltage 1.7V/element and density of electrolytes is lower than 1.2kg/l.
- once a week if the vehicle is not used every day through incomplete charge or if forklift or the vehicle is not under full loading pressure.
- once a month, for every battery in exploitation whether its in working position or storaged. Working procedure through added charging.
Added charging can happen without removing battery from the forklift or vehicle.
- Position forklift near the equipment for charging and connect battery to be charged.
- Remove, disconnect battery from electro lifters if its place on it.
- Clean battery from the dirt and dry it out.
- Lift the pocket openings.
- Check the state of panels and keep the record of it.
- Pour, make correction to the level of electrolytes by pouring distill water.
- Clean the traces of acid and water.
- Connect battery to the charging keeping in mind following:
- Positive hatch of the battery connected to positive hatch of rectifier.
- Negative hatch of the battery connected to negative hatch of rectifier.
- Connect charging equipment with charging electricity IDOP=0.05C5 until the signs are showing that charging is reached peak.
- Continue charging 1h than in combination of break and charge few times, to stop overloading with gases and to secure that battery is fully charged.
